Weymouth, MAELERTS Corporation, a leader in emergency response communication, joins the Yarmouth Police Department and Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District in launching a comprehensive program that uses mobile technology to improve school security.

ELERTS Event Alert is a communication platform that lets school personnel use their smartphones to report threatening or suspicious activities directly to local police. Designated staff can also initiate the Lockdown of a facility with the touch of a button. When a volatile situation is underway, police can broadcast real-time advisories to the prescribed audience. GPS maps and photos are shared using mobile phones and provide important visual context to inform Shelter in Place or Evacuation decisions.

In active shooter situations, Event Alert is particularly relevant as incidents are often over in 5 – 8 minutes. Until now, students and teachers were usually isolated during lockdowns without means of two-way communication.

ELERTS See Say™ app is designed for broader, non-emergency use, empowering students, teachers, and residents to report safety and security concerns, in keeping with the national “See Something, Say Something” campaign. Reports are sent from a smartphone to the appropriate authority, usually a police department or administration office. Report types may include Crime, Hazard, Motor Vehicle, Maintenance, and Disturbance which addresses the growing concern about Bullying.

These apps are available for iPhone, iPad, and Android smartphones. ELERTS solutions can be integrated with Video Surveillance and Access Control systems.
